A resident of Santa Maria for over 30 years, Mr. Alvarez is a 2008 graduate of Pioneer Valley High School. Following a semester at Allan Hancock College, he stepped away from his studies to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return, he resumed his education at Allan Hancock, earning an Associate of Science in Mathematics before transferring to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business.
After a brief career in the agriculture industry, Mr. Alvarez discovered a new calling in education through his service in a youth group and through his mentors. While working in the Financial Aid department at Allan Hancock College, he earned a Master’s in School Counseling from Brandman University. He officially launched his counseling career at Arroyo Grande High School in 2021.
An avid sports enthusiast, Mr. Alvarez can often be found cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, the Los Angeles Dodgers, LAFC and Chivas. Outside of his professional life, he cherishes time spent with his wife, two daughters, and their two dogs. In his personal time, he stays active through gardening, fishing, and a variety of outdoor activities.
